410 trees were planted in Warsaw during three stages of the Green Stop

In the last days of April, the third stage of planting took place as part of the Green Stop campaign, thanks to which 130 new trees and 50 shrubs were added in Mokotów and Wilanów. In total, the initiative of Budimex, the main contractor for the construction of the tram route connecting Śródmieście with Wilanów, has greened the areas along the route with 410 trees and 50 shrubs in three stages. Plantings are a direct initiative and additional activity of Budimex employees – they do not have the status of compensatory plantings.

The Przystanek Zieleń campaign was addressed to housing communities and cooperatives located in the districts of Mokotów and Wilanów, i.e. adjacent to the construction of the tram to Wilanów. From among the willing communities and cooperatives, those that have land on which new trees can be planted and declared that they have resources that allow them to take care of them indefinitely. The plantings were carried out by representatives of communities or cooperatives after receiving seedlings from Budimex or volunteers from the Wilanów tram contract.

Various species of trees were planted in the campaign, including, among m.in, such as: small-leaved linden, sawtooth cherry “Kanzan” or Norway maple “Drumondii”. In total, as part of the Green Stop and compensatory plantings, over 1000 new trees appeared along the tram line to Wilanów.

Budimex, Polish’s largest general construction contractor, has been responsible for the construction of the tram route to Wilanów since September 2022.  The project, implemented under the contract with the investor – Warsaw Trams, is a key step in improving the quality of life of Warsaw residents. The largest tram investment in the city will connect Wola, Ochota, Dworzec Zachodni with Wilanów and Mokotów, creating new, effective connections in the capital. Thanks to the investment, the residents of Wilanów will be able to get to the city centre in less than 30 minutes during rush hours!
