In the last days of October, the second phase of planting took place as part of the Przystanek Zieleń campaign, thanks to which 150 new trees were added in Mokotów and Wilanów. The initiative, led by Budimex, the main contractor for the construction of the tram route connecting Śródmieście with Wilanów, aims to green the areas along this route. In total, during all stages of the campaign, 400 trees will be planted on Budimex’s initiative.

The Przystanek Zieleń campaign is addressed to housing communities and cooperatives located in the districts of Mokotów and Wilanów. From among all the applications, Budimex first selects those communities or cooperatives that are closest to the construction route of the Tram to Wilanów. As part of the second edition of the Green Stop, applications were accepted until 22 September. This time, 20 cooperatives took part in it, some of which (6 cooperatives) started planting trees on their own after receiving seedlings from Budimex on 20 October. The remaining plantings were carried out by volunteers from the Tram to Wilanów contract together with the coordinator Szymon Laskowski. In total, another 150 trees were planted. At this stage, trees were planted, such as: small-leaved linden, sawtooth cherry “Amanogawa”, sawtooth cherry “Kanzan” and Norway maple “Drumondii”.

The Przystanek Zieleń campaign is a continuation of the investment in the development of urban space, which began in September 2022 and includes the area around the construction of the tram route to Wilanów. The next, third stage of the initiative, under which 120 more trees are to be planted, is scheduled for spring 2024. In order to take part in the campaign, communities and cooperatives must have land and resources that will enable long-term care of the planted trees. The construction of the tram route to Wilanów, carried out by the largest Polish general contractor, Budimex, from September 2022 for the investor Warsaw Trams, is a key step in improving the quality of life of Warsaw residents. The largest tram investment in the city will connect Wola, Ochota and the Western Railway Station with Wilanów and Mokotów, creating new, effective connections in the capital. The residents of Wilanów will benefit the most from this project, as it will allow them to reach the city centre in less than 30 minutes during rush hours.
