BXF Energia acquired 100% of shares in the company implementing a project to build a photovoltaic farm with a capacity of up to 60 MW.
The Azalia project provides for the construction of a photovoltaic farm with a total capacity of up to 60 MW in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship near Rzeszów. The location conditions allow the annual production of the farm to be estimated at approximately 65 GWh. The project has a set of administrative and legal permits allowing for the commencement of construction works and connection of the project to the network.
“The acquisition of the Azalia project is another step in the implementation of our strategy to build a portfolio of our own renewable energy sources with a capacity of 500 MW. We are starting construction after the May holiday to enjoy the first production of green energy from this project next year. With this transaction, the group increased its capacity in the construction and operation phase to approx. 80 MW. To date, the Budimex Group’s portfolio in RES projects has already been expanded by the Magnolia wind farm in Wielkopolska, the Kamelia photovoltaic farm in Mszczonów near Warsaw and several smaller projects. When a year ago the shareholders of BXF Energia – Budimex and Ferrovial, signed the shareholders’ agreement – we set ourselves an ambitious goal, which we are gradually pursuing. During this time, we have built our own team to develop projects from scratch, build them and operate them.” – says Piotr Świecki – President of the Management Board of BXF Energia.
BXF Energia is a joint-venture between Budimex and Spain’s Ferrovial. Budimex has a majority stake in the entity (51 per cent). BXF Energia is implementing the Budimex Group’s diversification strategy by developing a new area of its operations. The company’s task is also to produce green energy for the needs of external customers.
“Regardless of the transaction of the Azalia project, we develop wind and photovoltaic farm projects on our own. At the moment, at various stages of development, we have 420 MW of PV projects and 410 MW of wind projects in our portfolio. We are still open to cooperation with plot owners and partners with whom we can develop the portfolio together.” – says Tomasz Grzęda – Member of the Management Board of BXF Energia, responsible for project development.
The company plans to issue a permit to start work on the contractor in May 2024 to get the power plant up and running in the second half of 2025. The contractor for the installation will be Budimex SA.
