On 30 October, as part of the “Tree for a Survey” campaign, volunteers from Budimex planted 200 trees in the Białystok forest.

The trees were planted as part of a campaign aimed at encouraging the company’s stakeholders to share their opinion on the integrated Budimex report. In exchange for each completed survey, Budimex promised to plant one tree. The choice of the place for the action fell on Białystok, where the company is currently implementing several contracts, m.in. builds the University Library, the Sybir Museum and renovates the Railway Station.

We are glad that it was Białystok that received the gifts of trees as part of the campaign conducted by Budimex. The trees planted by Budimex volunteers will undoubtedly enrich the urban ecosystem and contribute to improving the microclimate in our city. – said Andrzej Karolski, Director of the Department of Municipal Economy of the Białystok City Hall.

In agreement with the Department of Municipal Economy of the Białystok City Hall, m.in were planted. beeches, oaks, lindens and rowans, which in a few years will not only be home to many animals, but also, above all, factories of oxygen necessary for the life of every inhabitant of our planet.

In carrying out our business activities, we try to minimize their negative impact on the natural environment. We carry out compensatory plantings, reusing in the later stages of construction works the layers of fertile soil removed during the first stages of works. A popular activity is also the transfer of plants and animals from the areas under construction to new places, with the same requirements and habitat values. We are also initiating many other additional actions aimed at protecting the natural environment.  – says Marcin Głąbek, Head of the Environmental Protection Team at Budimex

Trees play a particularly important role in urban space. They regulate the ambient temperature, in the case of large agglomerations they provide soothing shade in summer, thus limiting the impact of the so-called urban heat island, and in winter they reduce wind speed, contributing to the reduction of heat loss. In addition, they contribute to increasing air humidity by alleviating urban drought, produce oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide and many gaseous and particulate pollutants.

Social responsibility at Budimex is one of the strategic areas of its activity. For many years, the company has been involved in activities for the benefit of local communities, implementing its own social programs, as well as supporting all activities for environmental protection.
