Budimex has completed an important part of the works on the Warsaw-Lublin railway line

Budimex has completed a significant part of the works on railway line No. 7 Warsaw – Lublin on flights B and C1. The works on flight B: Pilawa – Dęblin are already completed in 100% and on flight C: Dęblin – Nałęczów the works on one track have been completed. From Sunday, December 14, scheduled trains run on both sections with a length of over 90 km.

On the Dęblin – Nałęczów section, Budimex commissioned 25 km of track with subgrade and drainage, the same amount of overhead contact line and 19 railway turnouts. Passengers will use 7 new platform edges with pedestrian access, drainage, lighting, shelters and small architecture. 7 railway crossings were built in the ballast-free technology, and 22 engineering structures were constructed.

The works were carried out at an express pace of 6 months. The enormity of the work is evidenced by the involvement of the number of people. Almost 2,000 employees and over 100 units of equipment have worked and are working on the LK7 modernization,” says Artur Popko, Vice President and Construction Director of Budimex SA.

A great success is the completion by Budimex before the winter period of earthworks, underfloor works, track works and works related to the development of the overhead contact line structure on track No. 1 between the sections of Puławy Miasto until the end of the scope of our investment. The completion of these works on this section was to take place in October 2020, according to the contract,” says Artur Popko.

In addition, track No. 2 on the Dęblin – Puławy section was put into operation, and it is a 19-kilometer section of track with subgrade and drainage, the same amount of overhead contact line. Travelers will use 4 new platform edges with pedestrian accesses, drainage, lighting, shelters and small architecture. 3 railway crossings were built in ballastless technology. The launch of this section was possible thanks to the commissioning of the Zarzeka Signal Box building.

On the Pilawa – Dęblin section (Lot B), the works are already completed. Here m.in was created:
• 120 km of tracks

• 156 km of overhead contact line

• 106 new turnouts

• 53 engineering structures

• 17 rail-road crossings

• 74 km of technical roads

• 8 train stops

On the Otwock – Pilawa section (Lot A) – Before the winter period, 90% of the works in the underfloor area were completed, works related to the construction of both tracks are underway. Double-track train traffic on this section will be launched next year. The material progress of the entire contract is 60%.

All works carried out by Budimex on LK7 Warszawa – Lublin have been underway since May 2017. The works carried out by Budimex are ongoing over a length of about 120 km of the line. The value of all tasks: Lot A, B and C is PLN 1 billion 600 million net.

Budimex SA is currently among the top three largest railway contractors. The company has m.in behind it. reconstruction of the Olszamowice station on the Central Railway Line, or modernization of the railway ring line in Warsaw. For the latter contract, Budimex SA was awarded the title of “Diamond of Infrastructure and Construction 2018” in railway construction. Other investments in this sector carried out by the company include m.in. modernization of the E59 railway line on the Rokietnica-Wronki section, or works on LCS Idzikowice. Both contracts are to end in 2020. Budimex is also the general contractor for the Trzebinia – Krzeszowice (Katowice-Kraków) section, improving rail access to the seaport in Gdynia.
