Budimex is implementing one of the largest road infrastructure projects in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The company has commenced works related to the laying of the first layers of asphalt pavement on the six-kilometre Wałbrzych bypass.
The current construction works concern a test section with a length of several hundred meters in the northern part of the Wałbrzych bypass. This is an important step in the perspective of the entire project, implemented along national road No. 35. Its contractor, Budimex, started work in April last year. commissioned by the City of Wałbrzych and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
Fast and efficient operation
The investment is already nearly 45% advanced. More than 250 people and more than 100 pieces of equipment work on the construction site every day. The company carries out works on engineering structures. The most advanced are those at the Żeromskiego junction. The surface works will last until the end of this year. Laying the surface – binding and wearing course – is an important stage showing the progress of the work.
– We are implementing the construction of the Wałbrzych bypass at the maximum possible pace. Taking advantage of the poor winter, we have accelerated the implementation of engineering structures,” says Artur Popko, Vice-President of the Management Board of Budimex SA. A major challenge for the general contractor are underground collisions with the old mining infrastructure and municipal utilities not included in the design documentation. – There were complications in the work schedule resulting from collisions of underground installations that were not covered by the project. Despite the adversities, we do not plan to slow down,” adds Popko.
The Wałbrzych bypass is an important project from the perspective of the city’s residents. The road will improve the comfort and speed of communication to workplaces, schools and public facilities. The contract deadline for the completion of the works is June 2021, and the net value of the investment is PLN 249,637,589.90.
Budimex is a leader in road infrastructure projects in Poland. The Wałbrzych bypass has been under construction since last year. Year. Budimex will also build the S5 expressway in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and the S5 expressway in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
