The new building of the Military Hospital in Krakow has already reached its target height. The structure of the facility has been fully completed and the stage of work on the shell has been completed. The main contractor, i.e. Budimex SA, is moving to the next stage of the investment, i.e. finishing works. The planned completion of this project is at the turn of 2026 and 2027.
The residents of Krakow can already take a full look at the body of the new building of the Military Clinical Hospital with a Polyclinic in Krakow at 1-3 Wrocławska Street. The investment, carried out by Budimex SA, consists in the construction of a new 4-storey building with a usable area of approx. 27,100 sq m. (including 8 operating rooms and over 200 beds for patients), which will serve the needs of the operating theatre, hospital wards, and diagnostic and laboratory facilities. In addition to the construction of the hospital building, Budimex’s task is to obtain the required permits and all other documents necessary to obtain an occupancy permit.
” The construction of the new building of the Military Hospital in Krakow is a unique opportunity for us to contribute to the improvement of health care in the region. Our goal is to create a modern space that will meet the highest medical standards, providing patients and staff with comfortable conditions. As Budimex, we focus on the quality of workmanship and innovative solutions so that the investment serves the residents of Krakow for many years to come ,” says Michał Wiśniowski, Contract Manager at Budimex SA.
To this end, Budimex is carrying out this investment using BIM technology, i.e. Building Information Modeling, which means fully digital modelling of the building and its construction process. This means creating a digital, three-dimensional model of the investment being implemented, which is used to supervise the work and check the details of the project. In addition to this, there is a fully electronic document workflow, which allows for constant contact with the designer, the investor and supervision inspectors.
This is not the only innovation on the construction site. Earlier, Budimex decided to include a robot supporting employees in the work. The gesture-controlled design is equipped with 360-degree cameras, lidar and sensors that allow you to work even at night. His tasks included transporting heavy objects, painting, assembling formwork and drilling holes. The innovative design is the result of cooperation between engineers from Italy, Austria, Germany and Poland.
“As the largest construction group in Poland, we want to set trends in innovative and sustainable construction. In addition to the above-mentioned, robots for other purposes were also used on the construction site of the Hospital. In this respect, it is one of the most innovative projects in Poland,” said Marek Klusek, Director of the Guarantee, Innovation and Contract Conditions Branch at Budimex SA.
Currently, the works on the shell of the new hospital building have been completed and the investment has entered the stage of finishing works. The planned completion date of the entire contract is November 2026. This includes the final acceptance with the commissioning of the hospital so that patients can be admitted. The facility under construction is a completely modern hospital facility, which will significantly modernize
and will modernize the hospital base, because most of the existing buildings of the Military Hospital in Krakow are buildings that are over 100 years old.
More than 130 people are currently working on the construction site. The contract value is over PLN 380 million net.
