Budimex is implementing an advanced phase of the expansion of the D1 motorway on the Bratislava-Triblavina section. The project includes widening the route to four lanes, raising its level and building eight new bridges. In order to ensure the flow of traffic, drivers use newly built detours.
On Sunday, March 9, the phased process of redirecting traffic on the D1 road in Slovakia was completed. The first section of the alternative route, in the direction of Bratislava-Trnava, was made available to drivers at the beginning of March. Last weekend, the second section of the detour on the route from Trnava to Bratislava was opened, thus finalizing the changes in traffic organization. The scope of work included, among m.in, dismantling and assembly of hundreds of meters of concrete barriers and the application of horizontal markings. The new solution is aimed at improving passage and safety on one of the key sections of the motorway.
– As part of the investment carried out by Budimex, bridge structures will be rebuilt, and the D1 motorway itself will undergo comprehensive modernisation. In addition, we will build four new bridges at the Ivanka Sever interchange, which will significantly improve the comfort and safety of tens of thousands of drivers using this route every day ,” said Krzysztof Sokołowski, Director of the Czech and Slovak Market at Budimex.
The 3.6 km long extension project for the D1 Bratislava-Triblavina section provides for the construction of 18 bridges and the implementation of a motorway information system and noise barriers. The aim of the investment is to increase the comfort and safety of road users and to relieve traffic in the Slovak capital by connecting the D1 and D4 motorways. Budimex, which has extensive experience in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Poland and abroad, began preparatory work in December 2022.
The project also provides for the construction of detour routes that will allow traffic to be diverted from the D1 motorway and create space for the construction of the necessary bridges and motorway connections in the Jarovce-Trnava and Trnava-Stupava directions. Budimex, as the general contractor, is implementing a total of 128 buildings as part of this investment.
The modernisation and extension of the D1 section near Bratislava is a strategic project that will significantly improve the efficiency of road traffic in the region and contribute to the development of transport infrastructure in Slovakia.
Budimex is consistently developing its presence on foreign markets. In addition to its operations in Slovakia, the company is implementing two significant contracts in the Czech Republic – the Kutrin project and a section of the D35 motorway. In addition, Budimex participates in the strategic Rail Baltica project in Latvia, which is a key element of the international transport infrastructure. The foreign expansion is an important step in the company’s long-term development strategy, strengthening its position as one of the leading contractors in Central and Eastern Europe.
