The largest Polish general contractor is constantly raising safety standards for its employees. Budimex has introduced innovative active workwear equipped with fibre optics, which will provide increased visibility and protection in difficult working conditions. The clothing is currently available for sale to anyone interested.
The product is a response to the current needs of the construction industry and fits in with the company’s culture “Always Safe, Always Ready”.
Personal light on the construction site
Budimex’s innovative solution is the result of cooperation with the manufacturer and distributor of workwear – Garment. Active workwear is a technologically advanced solution that responds to the needs of the modern construction industry, which puts safety first. Fiber optics built into the vests emit light, increasing the visibility of workers regardless of weather or lighting conditions. The project is intended to facilitate work carried out at night and in areas with limited visibility, such as road construction sites.
“The new workwear not only improves the safety of our employees, but also emphasises Budimex’s key values, such as responsibility, ethics and cooperation,” says Marek Klusek, Director of the Guarantee, Innovation and Contract Conditions Branch at Budimex SA. “This solution was developed in cooperation between our team and Garment, so we were able to adapt it to the real needs of users. Taking care of the safety of our employees is Budimex’s priority, which is why we are constantly investing in innovative solutions that make their work safer and more comfortable. We are glad that our innovative solution has been widely distributed and actively translates into improved safety also in other companies operating in the construction sector,” adds Marek Klusek.
Safety first
Budimex is consistently developing a safety culture in its organisation. In 2022, more than 850 occupational health and safety training courses were organized, as well as specialized programs such as the “Young Engineer Academy” and the “Contract Manager Academy”. The company also regularly conducts educational campaigns in this area. In recent years, campaigns such as “Step Up”, promoting partnership communication between employees and management, and “Vertical transport”, dedicated to safe work, have been organized.
The company also actively participates in nationwide initiatives such as the “Safety Week”, during which fire safety training, first aid courses and webinars on health and safety are organized. This year’s eleventh edition, devoted to the need to maintain order on construction sites, is held under the slogan “EVERYTHING IS FINE #OGARNIĘTE”. The action is organized by the Agreement for Safety in Construction, an organization associating the largest companies in the country. Budimex regularly educates and promotes safety rules in the workplace and beyond.
