Budimex, the company building the key connection between the D1 and D4 motorways near Bratislava, is also focusing on road safety in the vicinity of the contract.
Through the Hello ICE project, it aims to increase the knowledge of primary school and preschoolers about safe behavior.
The general contractor has launched an action in a Polish school in Bratislava.
Budimex has prepared a discussion and outdoor activities for children, including a traffic town.
The children’s parents also took part in the event, and the meeting was graced by the presence of the Polish ambassador in Bratislava – Maciej Ruczaj.
As part of the Hello ICE project, Budimex has long been involved in education and prevention in the field of road safety.
In the first half of 2024 alone, 3500 children in 17 locations were involved in the project.
During the 12 years of the program’s existence, hundreds of trainings were held in schools and kindergartens in Poland, and thousands of reflective elements were distributed to participants and over 700 dangerous points were identified on the road map throughout the country.
– Everyone, including the youngest, has an impact on road safety.
The event in Bratislava was the first of its kind outside Poland.
In the presence of a police officer, we discussed road signs, road and construction safety rules, and in the practical part, the children had the opportunity to ride bicycles or other vehicles on a special track with signs and obstacles – said Wojciech Włodzimirski, Contract Director at Budimex.
He added that the aim of the project is to educate students through interesting interactive lessons so that they can better take care of their own safety.
In addition to building key infrastructure in Slovakia, the company focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.
An example is the completion of the playroom at the Parent and Kids Club – Vajnory, located near the D1D4 construction site.
As part of the cooperation, the space was furnished, equipped with didactic toys for children of different age categories and a ball pool.

The completion of the D1 and D4 junctions, which is Budimex’s first project in Slovakia, will significantly improve the efficiency of transport around the capital and in the entire region.
The modernization and expansion of D1 will increase travel comfort, safety and traffic flow.
The connection between the D1 and D4 will also relieve the motorway passing through the Slovak capital.
