Budimex has signed a contract with the Białystok branch of GDDKiA for the design and construction of the S61 Ostrów Mazowiecka-Szczuczyn expressway, section: Stawiski junction (without the junction) – the beginning of the Szczuczyn bypass with a length of 18 km. The contract was signed on behalf of Budimex by Dariusz Blocher, President of the Management Board.

A dual carriageway road with a length of approx. 18 km will run almost entirely on the new track. The new road will be adapted to a load capacity of 115 kN/axle and a design speed of 110 km/h. The surface will be made of cement concrete.

It will be another section of the Via Baltica route, which in Polish runs along the S8 expressway from Warsaw to Ostrów Mazowiecka and further along the S61 expressway, which is to connect Ostrów Mazowiecka with the Polish border in the town of Budzisko.

The contract amounts to PLN 278 million net.

From the moment the contract is signed, Budimex has 31 months to prepare the design, obtain the necessary administrative decisions and construct the expressway (not including winter periods during the construction phase).

Via Baltica is a fragment of the international road E67, which runs from Poland through Lithuania and Latvia to Estonia. The route serves as the most important road link between the Baltic States and Western Europe.
