Budimex has received a permit to start construction works on the S8 route between the Jordanów Śląski and Łagiewniki Zachód junctions. On Wednesday, July 9 this year, the Lower Silesian Voivode issued a decision on the permit for the implementation of the road investment (ZRID). Thus, the document opened the way for the handover of the construction site and the commencement of fieldwork on one of the key fragments of the future expressway connecting Wrocław with the Kłodzko Valley.

The Jordanów Śląski – Łagiewniki Zachód section is one of the seven planned sections of the S8 expressway between Wrocław and Kłodzko, covered by the GDDKiA investment. As part of the task, Budimex is implementing section No. 3, 11.2 km long, working in the “Design and Build” formula. the project entrusted to Budimex was the first to obtain the necessary permits on the planned S8 route, enabling the commencement of construction works. The contract value is PLN 355.6 million, and the completion of the investment is planned for the third quarter of 2027.

“The commencement of works was possible thanks to the commitment of the entire design and engineering team of Budimex, which in recent months has been working intensively on the preparation of documentation and arrangements necessary to obtain a ZRID decision. This is a demanding section in terms of engineering and organization, but we are ready to be implemented. The construction of the S8 is not only an investment in infrastructure, but above all in the future of the region, the safety of travellers and the economic development of Lower Silesia. – Michał Popowicz, Contract Director at Budimex SA.

The new section will run on the western side of the existing national road No. 8, through the areas of the municipalities of Jordanów Śląski and Łagiewniki. The scope of work includes the construction of two road junctions: Łagiewniki Północ and Łagiewniki Zachód. As part of the investment, two bridges will also be built, which also serve as animal crossings, four viaducts over the expressway, three viaducts along the expressway and six ecological culverts.

The road will be made in a dual carriageway cross-section (2×2 lanes with an emergency lane), with a reserve for the third lane, which will allow the route to be adapted to the growing traffic volume in the future.

The importance of the investment for the region

Ultimately, the S8 route between Wrocław and Kłodzko will be about 64 km long, divided into seven sections. The new road will significantly improve the safety and flow of traffic in this part of the country, relieving the burden on national road No. 8. The investment will increase the accessibility of the Kłodzko region, facilitate transport and improve the living conditions of residents.

Budimex plays a key role in the construction of national roads, being the main contractor under the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads and the Programme for the Construction of 100 Bypasses, thus contributing to the modernisation of the transport network in Poland. The commitment and scale of the company’s operations place Budimex at the forefront of the most important construction companies in the country.
