Warsaw is becoming greener and greener thanks to the “Green Stop” initiative run by Budimex. As part of the fifth edition of the program, implemented in spring 2025, 140 new trees will be delivered to housing communities and cooperatives in Mokotów and Wilanów. This is the next stage of activities that accompany the construction of the tram route to Wilanów and are aimed at creating a more friendly, green space for the residents of the capital.

Over the last two years, Budimex has been actively involved in the greening of Warsaw housing estates. As part of the four previous editions of the “Green Stop”, which took place in spring and autumn, 510 trees and 50 shrubs have already been planted in over 60 locations in Mokotów and Wilanów. Originally, it was planned to plant 400 trees, but thanks to the great interest of the local community, Budimex has increased the pool of plants, responding to the growing need for sustainable infrastructure.

“Each investment should bring added value to residents, so in addition to building modern infrastructure, we care about the environment and the quality of life in the city. ” “Przystanek Zieleń” is a project that has a real impact on the environment, improving the aesthetics, microclimate and biodiversity of Warsaw. We are looking forward to the next edition and the opportunity to donate new seedlings to communities and cooperatives,” says Martyna Wróbel, Director of the Communication and PR Office at Budimex S.A.

As part of the fifth edition, 140 trees will be delivered to residents, which will diversify the landscape of urban housing estates. There will be, for m.in, the Nigra cherry plum, whose purple leaves retain their intense color throughout the season, and the Brandywine apple tree, sprinkled with pink flowers in spring. The three-lobed almond will add a subtle charm with its delicate flowers, while the small-leaved linden will improve air quality and create natural shade on warm days. Drummondii’s Norway maple, with a light leaf edge, and Purple Globe’s maple, with a compact crown, will become an impressive complement to the green space.

Przystanek Zieleń is not only new plantings, but also an opportunity to integrate the local community. So far, 6 outdoor events have been held as part of the program, during which residents could participate in joint tree planting and educational meetings on urban greenery.

Housing communities and cooperatives interested in participating in the programme can apply via the form on the Budimex website. The deadline for submitting applications is March 16, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
