Recent years have been a period of increased investments in railway equipment for Budimex (over PLN 200 million spent on machinery and rolling stock) and in the competences of people and  the teams they create. Budimex has been and continues to be significantly involved in the implementation of the National Railway Programme for 2014-2023,” summed up Maciej Olek, Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA at the European Economic Congress in Katowice.

As part of the discussion panel: Modernization of railway lines in Poland – the balance of the National Railway Program, market participants summarized the effects of the implementation of the National Railway Programme. The discussion was attended by, m.in, Andrzej Bittel, Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for Counteracting Transport Exclusion, Tomasz Gontarz, Member of the Management Board, PKP Intercity SA, Ewa Karasińska, Director, Department of Railway Projects, Centre for EU Transport Projects (CEUTP), Arnold Bresh, Member of the Management Board, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA, Marita Szustak, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Land Transport and Marcin Horała – Secretary of State, Government Plenipotentiary for the Central Port for the Republic of Poland.

Maciej Olek drew attention to the non-construction aspect of the implementation of the entire program.

The effects of the implementation of the NCP will be visible to everyone, to the entire society. As a State, we have invested PLN 77 billion together with the European Union, which will stay here with us,” he said during the panel – Member of the Management Board of Budimex.

We will all benefit from these investments, not only Budimex as a general contractor, but also as citizens, so the social dimension of this programme is very large ,” added Maciej Olek.

The next Railway Programme until 2030 will have a higher value of approx. PLN 80 billion. Public consultations of the Programme have just begun. We learned a lot and drew the right conclusions from the implementation of the plan that was coming to an end. This gives us a good chance for a smoother implementation of the next NCP. The implemented investments are of great environmental importance. There will be no sustainable development, as well as green transport without railways – summed up Maciej Olek.

Budimex has implemented m.in under the previous EU perspective. such railway investments as: railway connection in Kraków, LCS Olszamowice, LK7 on the Otwock – Nałęczów section,  LCS Idzikowice, E30 Trzebinia – Krzeszowice or E59 Rokietnica-Wronki.  Currently, Budimex is implementing railway contracts with a total value of PLN 2.4 billion, including: the Warszawa Zachodnia station, the Ełk station, the Czechowice-Dziedzice railway junction and the Port of Gdynia.

Budimex is one of the main partners of this year’s European Economic Congress in Katowice. One of the largest economic events in Poland is attended by over 8 thousand entrepreneurs, politicians and journalists from Poland and Europe.
