Budimex won the TOP Builder award for the modernisation of Railway Line No. 7 from Otwock to Nałęczów. Top Builder is one of the most prestigious awards on the Polish construction market. This year, the Competition Jury chaired by Prof. Dr. Hab. Eng. Leonard Runkiewicz from the Warsaw University of Technology and ed. Danuta Burzyńska, Chief Builder, indicated the modernization of LK7 from Otwock to Nałęczów, carried out by Budimex in 2017-2021, as one of the 62 most important construction projects in Poland.
Among the awardees were such investments as Elektrownia Powiśle in Warsaw and Mennica Legacy Tower. The organizers of the competition indicate those construction projects that are distinguished by the quality of workmanship, the use of high-quality technological solutions and materials. The organizers of the competition themselves emphasize that it is a reward for the quality of construction and design.
The modernization of LK7 connecting Warsaw with Lublin for PKP PLK is the largest railway investment from the National Railway Program for 2015-2020, worth PLN 1.5 billion.
Budimex was responsible for works on three sections of the route: from Otwock to Pilawa, Pilawa to Dęblin and Dęblin to Nałęczów, which accounted for a total of 70 percent. of the entire investment with a length of 122 km. Rail traffic is already operational on most sections, and the completion of all commissioning on the last section between Otwock and Pilawa is planned for spring 2021.
