Modernization of the Toruń Wschodni railway station begins

Budimex has signed a contract with PKP S.A. for the implementation of the Investment entitled: “Reconstruction of the Toruń Wschodni railway station”.The project will be implemented as part of the investment task entitled: “Modernization of railway line No. 353 on the section Toruń Główny – Toruń Wschodni together with the station infrastructure and construction of new railway stops in Toruń – BiT City II”.

The investment includes construction works consisting in the reconstruction and renovation of the Eastern Railway Station and Administration buildings, demolition of the bunker building, change of land development and construction of the Temporary Station with the necessary infrastructure. The investment also assumes the improvement of the standard of passenger movement, improvement of the standard of service and providing access for people with reduced mobility, in particular the disabled.

The complex of buildings of the Eastern Railway Station and the Administration were erected in 1908. in the neo-Gothic style, with the original architectural layout preserved to the present day. In addition to their basic function of passenger service, the buildings were partly intended for commercial purposes and tourist accommodation.

The buildings of the Eastern Railway Station and the Administration are under conservation protection.

This is another historic railway station being modernised by Budimex. In 2021, Budimex revitalised the main railway station in Białystok, and in 2012 the railway stations in Wrocław and Przemyśl. Currently, the largest Polish general construction contractor is also modernizing the station in Włocławek.
