On 4 September 2024, during the 23rd Economic Forum in Karpacz, PKP CARGO S.A. and Budimex S.A. signed a Letter of Intent to employ PKP CARGO S.A. employees. The new employment support program for PKP CARGO S.A. employees will be implemented in the coming weeks and will cover up to 100 people in the professional groups in which Budimex S.A. recruits.
The signed Letter of Intent enables Budimex to recruit PKP CARGO employees for the m.in following positions: diesel traction vehicle driver, rolling stock mechanic, equipment operator, electrician (at various levels of responsibility), and electrician.
“Budimex is a trusted company with over 50 years of experience and a wide range of both construction and railway equipment. The offer of gaining unique experience for our employees as part of the signed letter of intent allows us to believe that both the future employer and the new employees on behalf of PKP CARGO will meet in their expected benefits from the mutually accepted offers. For us as the Management Board, this will be a confirmation of the rightness of the decisions taken,” said Marcin Wojewódka, PhD, acting President of the PKP CARGO S.A. Management Board in restructuring.
In August, the Management Board launched the process of group redundancies by establishing the Rules of Group Redundancies at the Company’s Head Office and Plants. Employees covered by the process of group redundancies will be able to benefit from training and advisory assistance. The company will conduct training to develop skills that can be used in the search for a new job. The training will include, m.in, help in writing a CV, preparation for job interviews or MS Office courses. PKP CARGO S.A. in restructuring will carry outplacement activities in cooperation with District Labor Offices to support professional change.
– The challenges we face as a company make it necessary to make unpopular decisions, often difficult ones, in the face of which the implemented solutions often show ineffective areas that require quick fixing. Financial requirements are also the main determinant of these decisions,” said Paweł Miłek, acting Management Board Member for Commercial Affairs at PKP CARGO S.A. in restructuring.
The agreement was signed today with the twelfth letter of intent. In total, under the signed agreements, it is possible to employ a total of over 2000 employees of PKP CARGO in other companies in various sectors of the economy. All these programs are already in place or will be implemented in the coming weeks.
“This initiative has a dimension of corporate social responsibility – as you can see, what is a challenge for one company can be an opportunity for another. At the same time, employees gain a safe perspective of continuing their work. Budimex is an excellent place to pursue professional ambitions related to railway construction, also due to the projects already contracted. It is worth remembering that we are the first Polish company to build the Rail Baltica high-speed railway in Latvia,” said Anna Karyś-Sosińska, Director of the Human Resources Management Division, Member of the Management Board at Budimex S.A.
“The signed Letter of Intent is a confirmation of our strategy for the development of railway construction, in which we are building our own forces. As Budimex, in recent years we have been investing particularly intensively in the competences of people and the teams they create, as well as in railway equipment, as evidenced by the investment worth over PLN 200 million in machinery and rolling stock. Thus, the potential we have gained thanks to these investments allows us to count on a significant share in the implementation of further railway projects,” said Maciej Olek, Operational Director of Railway, Energy and Industrial Construction, Member of the Management Board at Budimex S.A.
