Progress of works at the Warszawa Zachodnia station

Budimex – the general contractor of the new Warszawa Zachodnia station – has moved to the next key phase of works – track and bridge works on the western side of the station. A new eighth platform of the station was also put into use. Construction works related to the tunnel connecting platforms 1-8 with platform No. 9 of the ring line are nearing completion. On the western side of the station, two concrete bridge structures with a total volume of 30 thousand m3 are being built. A completely new track and turnout system will be built in these places, ensuring greater capacity of trains going west and south. The progress of the entire work has already exceeded 38%.

The works at the Warszawa Zachodnia station are one of the largest investments of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for over PLN 1.9 billion net. Implemented as part of the OPI&E 5.1-13 project entitled: “Works on the cross-city line in Warsaw on the section Warszawa Wschodnia – Warszawa Zachodnia”.  Work began in December 2020. The completion of the investment is planned for 2023.

Warszawa Zachodnia is a strategic station in Poland in terms of the number of trains running. On average, about 1000 agglomeration, regional, long-distance national and international trains pass through it daily.
