On 10 September 2025, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne signed a contract with Budimex S.A. for the construction of a new 110/220 kV substation in Marszów near Żary (Lubusz Voivodeship). The value of the contract is over PLN 134 million. Thanks to the implementation of the project, it will be possible to strengthen the reliability of power supply for electricity consumers in the western part of Polish and to receive energy from RES installations built in this region.

As part of the contract, the contractor selected in the tender will build a new station from scratch on a plot belonging to PSE. The implementation of the investment is the result of an agreement signed in 2019 by PSE with Enea Operator and TAURON Dystrybucja.

In the signed agreement, PSE declared the construction of a substation consisting of a 220 kV switchgear, a 110 kV switchgear and one 220/110 kV autotransformer with a capacity of 275 MVA, as well as the construction of a 220 kV double-circuit line connecting the station with the 220 kV Leśniów – Mikułowa line. The investment also includes the construction of one 220 kV rail bridge, allowing for the connection of six facilities such as renewable sources or energy storage. The substation and the 220 kV lines will be entirely owned by PSE.

The construction of the new substation and the related expansion of the 220 kV and 110 kV peak and high voltage networks is necessary to increase the safety and continuity of transmission and supply of electricity to customers connected to the distribution network of the southern part of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, the northern part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the south-western part of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship.

The construction of a new substation in the Żary commune is another project carried out for PSE by Budimex S.A. After its completion, the substation and the 220 kV line introduced into it will become one of the key elements of the transmission infrastructure, necessary to ensure stable energy supplies in the western part of Polish.

The construction of the power station in Marszów is another step in building energy security in western Polish and in supporting the development of RES. We are proud to continue our cooperation with Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczny. We are also carrying out the expansion and modernization of the strategic Piła Krzewina station. We are preparing for the implementation of a 400 kV line, which will allow for the efficient output of power from offshore wind farms. At the same time, we are developing renewable energy projects — such as the “Azalia” (60 MW) and “Kamelia” (21 MW) photovoltaic farms — which reflects our commitment to the country’s energy transition. Thanks to our experience as a general contractor with a national and international reach, we carry out investments that bring real benefits to local communities and the economy,” says Maciej Olek , Member of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne is the operator of the electricity transmission system in Poland. The company manages a transmission network consisting of 400 kV and 220 kV high-voltage lines enabling long-distance energy transmission with a total length of over 16 thousand kilometers, and 110 substations used for voltage change and electricity distribution.

BUDIMEX SA is a company with over fifty years of tradition, which has a significant share in the economic development of Polish. Over the period of over 50 years of the company’s existence, we have completed thousands of modern infrastructural, cubature and industrial investments.
