The construction of the bridge over the Regalica River is one of the largest infrastructure investments in the province. West Pomerania. This is a project of the State Water Holding Polish Waters implemented as part of the Odra-Vistula Flood Management Programme.

– This investment is one of the most complicated that we are carrying out today in Western Pomerania. It connects two roads – water and rail. We are rebuilding the track system from one by two, 3.5 km long, and a total of over 12 km of track. The structure was pushed over several meters behind the new current support. This will allow the completion of the merger of the bridge with a target length of 278 m,” said Cezary Łysenko from Budimex.

The whole process took place without complications, both structures were pushed several meters behind the new F3 current support. This will allow the completion of the integration of the entire structure to the target length of 277.9 m. At the turn of July and August, it is planned to make a slide to connect both banks of the Regalica River,” says Sławomir Krekora, Contract Director of Budimex SA, the general contractor of the entire investment.

From 16.06.2023, the next stage of changing the organization of rail traffic at the Szczecin Podjuchy station has been introduced. Currently, traffic takes place on newly constructed tracks No. 1 and 3, two platforms have been put into use for passenger traffic.

The support on the eastern side of the Regalica River has already been made Works related to the construction of the viaduct in ul. Glass and retaining walls, which will allow for the construction of an embankment and, at a later stage, the track surface on the approach to the bridge from the Podjuchy station. Works related to the reconstruction of the Podjuchy station are underway, with the installation of new railway traffic control equipment, overhead contact line and track works – says Sławomir Krekora – Contract Director of Budimex SA – the general contractor of the entire investment.

The bridge will be a three-span truss structure with a new railway system slightly moved away from the existing one. The bridge clearance planned after the reconstruction is to be 6.20 m above the so-called large navigable water (the upper limit of the water level at which river navigation is possible). Thanks to it, vessels will be able to flow freely under the crossing. The raised span of the railway bridge on the Regalica, which is a movable element of the old bridge, is under conservation protection, so it will be preserved.

The investment is to be completed in December 2023. The task is carried out as part of the government’s Odra-Vistula Flood Management Project (OVFMP). The project is co-financed by the World Bank and the EU Fund. The cost of the investment is about PLN 282 million.

The aim of the investment is to increase the freedom of inland navigation while ensuring the continuity of rail traffic along railway line No. 273. The net value of the contract is PLN 282 million. The investment is carried out in the “build” formula and is financed by the World Bank, the European Union and the state budget.
