The new school year has begun, and children missing their peers have returned to schools and kindergartens after almost a six-month break. For the Hello ICE program, it is a time for new tasks, a chance to meet students and preschoolers and, above all, to educate the youngest in the field of road safety.

The originator of the programme – Budimex – has also created an interactive map of dangerous points around schools and kindergartens in order to work out ways to eliminate them as quickly as possible in cooperation with local authorities. On the program’s website, ready-made lesson plans on safety for teachers are published. You can also find quizzes that children will solve together with their guardians.

In 2019, as part of Hello ICE, Budimex organised Safety Days in schools and kindergartens, which were attended by over 800 children. As part of the program, the company distributed 1400 reflectors and ICE (In Case of Emergency) contact cards. The map of dangerous points indicates nearly 400 critical locations near educational institutions.

Hello ICE emphasizes safety education from an early age. We adhere to the principle that learning through play is the best, which is why the hero of our lessons and Safety Days is Budi the tiger. Last year’s edition clearly showed that both the goal and the selected tools worked well. When the pandemic began, we did not slow down. We conducted our activities online and expanded them to include online security. We are supported in our activities by the ambassador of Hello ICE – Sebastian Mila, a former Polish national football player. – emphasizes Katarzyna Wójcik, Expert on communication in Budimex SA.

This school year, Budimex will adapt its activities to epidemiological requirements on an ongoing basis. Safety Days will be organized outdoors or in the form of webinars. Budimex also plans to paint 3D strips in the vicinity of the three schools indicated on the programme map to increase the safety of children on their way to and from school.

Schools and kindergartens can still apply for this year’s edition of Hello ICE to win a Safety Day at their school and a meeting with the hero of the action tiger Budi.

The Hello ICE program has received the patronage of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Lesson plans, quizzes for children and a map on which you can mark a dangerous spot around the school or kindergarten can be found on the www.helloice.pl website. We also encourage you to visit our profile on Facebook and Instagram.
