Budimex has signed a contract for the reconstruction of the 160-year-old railway station in Białystok with the investor – PKP S.A. The station will undergo a thorough modernisation while maintaining its current shape.
The historic building of the former St. Petersburg-Warsaw railway has been inscribed since 1960. to the register of monuments. The facility was built in 1860. and is an example of neo-baroque architecture. The aim of the reconstruction is to create a high-quality passenger service space, covered by clear and visually attractive information, fully adapted to the use of the facility by people with reduced mobility. An equal goal is the conservation of the existing historic substance of the building, with the emphasis on architectural values after the restoration of the original character of the waiting room.
In order to ensure the continuity of the station’s operation, a temporary station will be built during the construction works. The works will begin in November this year. The completion of construction works will take place in the first quarter of 2020. Budimex will cooperate with a large number of local subcontractors in the scope of this contract. The net value of the contract is PLN 29,470,000.00 million. The area of the facility is 2965.75 m2, while the cubic capacity is 23080.00 m3.
Budimex is the general contractor of m.in. modernization of another famous historic railway station in Wrocław. It was rebuilt by the largest Polish general contractor in the years 2010-2012.
