As part of the “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children”, another space for the youngest patients has been created. At the Provincial Children’s Hospital im. Józef Brudziński in Bydgoszcz, a playground has been renovated, which will make the recovery time of young patients more pleasant and speed up the recovery process.
“Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” is a nationwide social programme initiated and fully financed by Budimex SA. As part of the campaign, spaces for children and their parents are created in children’s wards of Polish hospitals, which allow them to discover the world through play and being together with their loved ones. Thanks to places such as Parent Zones, young patients can break away from thoughts about the disease for a moment and spend time in an interesting way. The program also supports parents who accompany their children in this difficult time for them.
The opening of the 41. Parent Zone in Bydgoszcz took place on November 23 this year. At the Provincial Children’s Hospital im. Józef Brudziński in Bydgoszcz, the playground has gained a modern, child-friendly look! The toys that were previously there were dismantled and renovated, and additional attractions were also installed. A new surface was made thanks to the Director of the Northern Branch of Budimex Region 1 – Radosław Slesar, who obtained the support of Tamex Sports Facilities S.A. This company made the surface pro bono. In addition, the aesthetics of the paths around the playground were improved, and the sanitary trimming of trees in the park was made. Budimex SA volunteers played a large role in the implementation of these tasks.
– The idea and main goal of the “Parent Zone. Budimex for Children” is to create more comfortable conditions for sick children and their parents to stay with their children in hospital, and thus improve the well-being of children and facilitate their faster recovery. The project has a broader educational dimension – it promotes emotional benefits and support for the treatment process resulting from the participation of parents in the care of a sick child. This is the 41. Parent Zone, the program has been running continuously for 10 years. Over 1 million children and parents have already benefited from the Parent Zones throughout Poland. Depending on the needs and conditions of the hospital, different spaces are renovated and arranged – in the case of Bydgoszcz, it is a playground. The Parent Zone is a huge commitment of volunteers, Budimex employees, who actively participate in the renovation of the rooms. – We are returning to the hospital after 8 years. Budimex was the general contractor of the Provincial Children’s Hospital in Bydgoszcz. Now we are to carry out smaller construction works, but socially, with the involvement of our people, suppliers and the help of the hospital staff. We are glad that we have implemented the Parent Zone in such a form, different from the others, and that thanks to this Zone, hospital patients will be able to spend time actively also outside the hospital building – says Radosław Ślesar – Director of the General Construction Division Region of Budimex SA.
As part of the 41. The following works were carried out in the Parent Zone:
- Disassembly of existing toys and their renovation (cleaning, replenishment of deficiencies, replacement of consumables)
- Assembly of toys according to a new concept along with assembly of new toys.
- Removal of the existing sand pavement
- Execution of a reclaimed concrete substructure with edging
- Execution of a safe poured surface
- Improving the aesthetics of the paths around the playground
- Sanitary pruning of trees in the park
