The progress of work on the construction of the S5 Nowe Marzy – Dworzysko section has exceeded 50%

The progress of works on the S5 Nowe Marzy – Dworzysko section implemented by Budimex has already exceeded 50%. Construction works are focused on the main route of the road to ensure the maximum capacity of the new route as soon as possible.  We plan to complete the works on the main road by the summer of 2022. The entire investment will be completed by the end of 2022 – in accordance with the contractual deadline.

Budimex signed the contract for the construction of this section with the investor: the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Bydgoszcz in April 2020. The works are carried out on a section of the S-5  expressway from the Nowe Marzy junction (without the junction) to the Dworzysko junction (with the junction) with a length of 23.3 km.

Budimex continues the work after another general contractor, which completed only part of the works (29%). The contractual deadline for the construction is 22 months, excluding winter months.

Scope of work on the S5 – Nowe Marzy – Dworzysko:

Bridge scope – basic information:

• A total of 38 bridge structures.
• New objects: 4.
• Facilities for renovation: 20 (including 4 structures along the S5 with demolition of the old one and replacement of the span with a new one)
• Objects to be completed: 14
• Concrete: 15 thousand m3
• Reinforcement: 1500 tons of steel
• Retaining walls: 6500 m2 of retaining walls to be built.
• Road range – basic information:
• To construct 24k m of the S5 expressway, including 5 road junctions
• 400 thousand/ton of mineral and bituminous mixtures for installation
• 520 thousand/ton of excavation and 450 thousand/ton of embankment to be built in
• Industry scope – basic information:
• Construction of 24 km of service duct
• Construction of a rainwater drainage system and 28 retention reservoirs
• Construction of a traffic management system
• Construction of power supply and lighting for 5 road junctions
