Budimex has signed a contract for the modernisation of the historic Railway Station in Grudziądz. The scope of work that the company will do is m.in. replacement of the external façade with the structure and joinery, insulation of the building from the outside and repair of the roof on which photovoltaic panels will be installed. The contract value is PLN 59.9 million. The works will last 20 months, and during them the residents will use the temporary station.

Budimex will also rebuild and renovate the interior with the preservation and restoration of historical elements, and the suspended ceiling made of fibreboards will be replaced with HPL laminated boards. Metalwork and – after prior cleaning – stone cladding will also be renovated.

The Grudziądz railway station was built in the years 1963-1965 according to the design of Zbigniew Czekanowski and is a valuable example of post-war modernism. Put into use on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of Grudziądz, in 2021 it was entered into the register of monuments.

The modernized building will gain an elevator and ramps, and passengers (on level -1) will have garages and service premises at their disposal. On the ground floor there will be, m.in, a hall, a waiting room, ticket offices, public toilets, a SOK station and commercial premises.

“Services related to the area of railway construction are of great importance to us. Recently, we have put into use the modernized historic railway stations in Białystok and Włocławek. Advanced works are underway in Toruń and – one of the largest investments of this type in Poland – Warszawa Zachodnia Station – says Jakub Nagraba, Director of General Construction, Budimex.
