Budimex SA, the general contractor for the extension of Opera Nova, has completed the next stage of the investment. On March 27, 2025, a topping out ceremony was held at the construction site of the so-called Fourth Circle, i.e. the facility that will join the characteristic body of the Bydgoszcz Opera House commissioned in 2006. At the same time, the construction of a two-level underground car park, which is located under the new building, was completed.
Budimex SA, a leader among construction companies, has completed the next stage in the expansion of Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. On March 27, 2025, the topping out ceremony was held, which symbolized the completion of the construction of the body of the new part of the facility. The fourth circle of the Opera House was connected with the part of the building that had existed for 19 years, which during this time has become one of the symbols of Bydgoszcz. The new space will include, among m.in, a stage rehearsal room, a cinema hall with high acoustic parameters and rooms for the orchestra.
The above-ground building has five floors, but the Opera Nova expansion project also includes the construction of a modern, two-storey underground car park that will accommodate nearly 300 cars. At the same time, the above-ground part of the car park will serve as a city square. The volume of the new opera house is 37,294.5 m³, and the total area is 8,206.5 m². In addition, the car park covers an area of 7,493.10 m².
” The topping out ceremony was a symbolic moment confirming that the project has entered the next phase. Thanks to the commitment of the entire team, we have completed a key stage of the investment, which will enrich the city with a modern space for artistic events ,” says Paweł Majkowski, Regional Director at Budimex SA.
The expansion of Opera Nova is one of the most important projects related to artistic and cultural infrastructure implemented in Bydgoszcz. The investment will provide residents and tourists with further modern spaces for artistic events. Budimex has previously completed similar projects, including the expansion of the Polish Theatre in Szczecin and the modernisation of the Aleksander Węgierko Drama Theatre in Białystok.
