The fourth edition of Hello ICE – a programme by Budimex that teaches children safety rules through play – has been launched. The aim of the project is to expand the knowledge of primary school and preschoolers about how to behave on the road, bicycle paths, but also near construction sites. This year’s series of educational activities began with a meeting that took place in the Edusa kindergarten in Warsaw. The Hello ICE program is under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Sport
and Tourism for 2023-2024.

Hello ICE is an original program of the largest Polish general contractor. As part of the annual series of meetings in road safety classes and riding bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and scooters, the youngest learn how to avoid danger. So far, several thousand children from all over Polish have taken part in the program.

“Budimex, as a responsible general contractor, supports local communities and educates the youngest in the field of safety. That is why the latest series began in a kindergarten in Warsaw’s Wilanów district, where a new tram route is being built. The tram to Wilanów is the largest investment of this type in the capital, which will noticeably improve the quality of life of residents. Thanks to it, still in 2024,  the residents of Wilanów will be able to get to the center in less than half an hour during rush hours. “This time, in addition to road safety classes and cycling and scooters, we familiarized children with the rules of moving around the construction site. Traditionally, the lessons were held in the formula of combining fun with learning, and all meetings were attended by the mascot of the action – Budi the tiger – says Martyna Wróbel, Director of Communication and PR at Budimex SA.

After classes with safety experts, the youngest, accompanied by Budi, took a trip to a nearby construction site, where they could sit behind the wheel of an excavator and a bus. The children also took part in planting wood.

In addition to a dose of knowledge, the youngest also received a number of practical gifts, thanks to which they will be able to increase their safety on the road. Reflective ICE (In  Case of Emergency) cards, with a space to enter the details of your parent or guardian, which can be helpful in the event of a missing child or an accident involving them, are just one example.

“Police statistics show that the number of road accidents with children as pedestrians is decreasing year by year. This is a reason for us to be satisfied, because it means that programs such as Hello ICE fulfill their role. As a company that cares about the safety of its employees, consistently reducing the number of accidents on construction plans, we decided to share our experience with the youngest – says Martyna Wróbel.

Budimex’s Hello ICE meetings are organised in cooperation with schools from all over the country. This year, apart from Wilanów, they took place m.in. in Olsztyn, and are also planned in institutions in Białystok, Olecko, Garbatka, Policzno and Lubowidz.
