Once again, Budimex wins the TopBuilder award for its implementation. During the ceremonial gala at the headquarters of the Association of Polish Architects, the TopBuilder 2024 statuette for the construction of the Metropolitan Station in Lublin was added to the company’s award collection.
The investment in Lublin developed by Budimex and Mostostal Kraków is a modern transport hub, the largest both in the city and in the region. The new station integrates public transport with extra-urban bus and bus transport and supports rail transport. The total usable area of the station is over 18 thousandm2 with a “Park & Ride” garage that can accommodate 174 cars, equipped with
into chargers for electric vehicles.
The building has interesting architectural solutions, such as impressive pillars resembling tree branches or a façade creating the impression of two separate buildings hidden inside. The roof in the form of an observation deck is also noteworthy. This space is intended for waiting passengers, who can use walking routes and recreational points arranged for them. With the youngest in mind, a playground with a rope park was also built.
As part of the contract, Budimex also carried out road works. The reconstruction of streets was carried out by making 18.7 thousand. m2 of bituminous surface
and 26.2 thousandm2 of granite cubes and stone slabs.
“ We derive great satisfaction from the implementation of this extraordinary project, which allowed us to implement the experience gained not only in Poland, but also abroad ,” says Andrzej Schmalenberg, Director of the General Construction Branch South at Budimex SA.
– In implementing the awarded investment, we used technologies that are unique on a global scale. I mean, for example, the roof of the platforms, which is also a top-class photovoltaic installation. Such projects, where we can not only develop proven ideas, but also introduce something completely innovative, give us the most satisfaction – adds Andrzej Schmalenberg.
TopBuilder is one of the most prestigious awards on the Polish construction market. It is a distinction for the highest quality products: novelties and innovations, including proven material, technological and construction solutions. The jury also appreciates the design and implementation work as well as modern tools to improve the management of companies and projects. Buildings that are distinguished by the high quality of the designed architecture, often timeless form, reliability of workmanship, requiring high qualifications and industry specialization, with quality certificates of modern materials used in the buildings and interesting pro-ecological solutions are also evaluated.
In 2023, Budimex won the TopBuilder award for the modernisation of the E-59 railway line on the Rokietnica – Wronki section. In 2022, Budimex was awarded for the construction of the PKN Orlen Research and Development Centre in Płock. A year earlier, the company received a statuette for the modernization of railway line No. 7 Warsaw – Lublin.
