Budimex will build the S10 expressway on the Piecnik – Wałcz Zachód section. The investment on the route from Szczecin to Piła will be carried out in the “Design and Build” formula, and the gross value of the contract will amount to PLN 552 million. This is the first of the contracts signed – Budimex submitted bids for five key sections of the S10 road, the total value of which amounted to over PLN 2.8 billion gross.

May 24, 2024 Budimex has signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways with a Branch in Szczecin for the construction of the first section of the S10 expressway in Western Pomerania. The contract covers a 16-kilometre route from the Piecnik junction to the Wałcz Zachód junction (without the junction). Budimex’s bids for this project concern 5 key sections of the S10 expressway, and their total length is 74 kilometres, which is over 70% of the length of the new expressway from Stargard Szczeciński to Piła. The gross value of Budimex’s bids is over PLN 2.8 billion.

Express connection between Western Pomerania and the center of Polish

The S10 expressway will have two lanes in each direction. The environmental decision, issued in July last year, is final and determined the route of the route. The new S10 will bypass the towns through which the current DK10 runs, such as Suchań, Recz, Kalisz Pomorski and Mirosławiec. The route will connect with the Wałcz bypass and will run south of the current DK10. The Stargard – Piła section will end at the Piła Północ junction, where the S10 will connect with the S11. Eleven road junctions, five pairs of Motorway Service Areas and two Road Maintenance Circuits will be built along the route.

Budimex’s bids for as many as 5 key sections of the S10 Szczecin – Piła expressway were considered the most advantageous by the contracting authority. The implementation of the contract is undoubtedly a challenge due to the number of sections, but we have a large and well-documented portfolio of even very complex contracts involving road infrastructure. We are glad that once again our experience and professionalism gained over the years have been appreciated by the contracting authority in an ambitious road project” – Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA. Budimex has recently successfully completed important road investments in the province, m.in the Przecław and Warzymice bypass, sections of the S3 route and the S11 route from Koszalin to Piła,” adds the President of Budimex.

The S10 road, about 410 km long, will connect Szczecin with the Warsaw agglomeration, running through Piła, Bydgoszcz and Toruń. The implementation of the missing sections is included in the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads until 2030. The S10 will create a direct connection between the regions of Western Pomerania, northern Wielkopolska, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Mazovia, offering an alternative to the A2 motorway transport route from the centre of the country to the north-west.

The contract for the Piecnik – Wałcz Zachód section, in addition to the construction of 16 kilometers of the expressway and the Piecnik road junction, provides for the reconstruction of existing roads in terms of collisions with the expressway, the construction of additional roadways, pedestrian and bicycle crossings and engineering structures. The scope of the investment also includes, among others, the design of the land drainage system, a plan to strengthen the ground or ensure the stability of slopes around the road.

Budimex is one of the largest general contractors of roads and motorways in Poland. For over two decades, the company has been building several hundred kilometers of motorways, expressways, local roads and ring roads every year.
